A Newsletter of Opinion on Current Australian Christianity

It seems that the Great Australian Megachurch Hillsong is sliding faster and faster into the mire of apostasy.  It’s not just the dodgy song lyrics or the concert-style pretence at worship under coloured lights and smoke on a centre stage.

And not only do the earlier controversies continue to dog them (eg, Brian Houston’s role in suppressing news of his father’s paedophilia, the Royal Commission disgrace, the taxation questions, the copyright disputes, the massively offensive prosperity gospel teachings), but in recent times we have had the other false teachers they employ to lead their flock – Warren, Osteen, Jakes and the like – and NOW.

Now we have Darlene Zschech, the former worship leader and now ‘pastor’ of another large Hillsong lookalike, who has just appeared before the Pope.

She is reported to have gushed that the Catholic Church’s Holy Spirit Rally on 3rd July was  “…a celebration of unity and peace in the Renewal of the Holy Spirit. Amazing days for the Body of Christ.”

Little by little, Hillsong and those associated with it (formerly and currently) are drawing their poor, deluded followers down the road to Roman Catholic false doctrines, the ambiguous and ignorant words of supposed Christian leaders like the Pope who acknowledge Christ out of one side of their mouths but spout lies, half-truths and man-made teachings in the guise of original Christian truth only found in the New Testament.
